Danube University Krems (Austria)

Danube University Krems is one of the pioneering institutions in Europe in the field of university based advanced education, and a specialized institution in the sector of lifelong learning. In teaching and research, the University focuses on social as well as organizational and technical challenges of current times, and is developing innovating courses on an ongoing basis. The University for Continuing Education is specifically focused on interdisciplinary cross-linking and future-oriented special sectors: it offers courses that combine medicine and management, education and new media, or law and social sciences. Highest quality standards, a scientific, practical approach, and the use of innovating teaching and learning methods are part of all courses. Danube University Krems bears the AQ Austria seal of quality in compliance with the Austrian Federal Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Danube University Krems is primarily devoted to translational research in special areas such as Health and Medicine, Educational Research and Lifelong Learning, European Integration, Migration and Economics as well as Art, Culture and Architecture. Scientific conclusions constitute the basis of practice-oriented teaching at the University for Continuing Education. Furthermore, the research being conducted here permits intensive cooperation with companies and other public institutions. The three faculties of the University conduct research that extends beyond the confines of their respective specialties.

As the leading public university in Europe in continuing education the University for Continuing Education – Danube University Krems (DUK) is specifically focused on inter- and transdisciplinary educational approaches for dealing with complex societal challenges and in different sectors.

Especially the Department for Knowledge and Communication Management (WUK), is a university based, Competence Centre for research, practice and further education. In research and teaching WUK has a strong foundation in systems science, communication/visualization, general management, innovation, entrepreneurship, and competence development as well as didactics for sustainable transition. The Department currently offers 20 Master programs (MBA and MSc) with a strong emphasis on inter- and transdisciplinary perspectives as the interaction/mutual learning of practice and science. Our transdisciplinary orientation within our training programs (i.e. applied on real-world cases) is particularly supported by three Transdisciplinarity Labs

1. GovLab Austria in cooperation with the Austrian government;

2. Sustainable Digital Environments;

3. Sustainable Mineral Resources.

A strong focus concerns capacity building skills particularly in the field of system thinking, systems modelling, and strategic games. Danube University Krems, and particularly the Department Knowledge and Communication Management have an extensive experience in the field of transdisciplinarity based on 41 projects at the national and international level. The activities in a field of transdisciplinarity give the necessary experience for the development of sufficient collaboration mechanisms between business and academia. Furthermore, this background provides for the capabilities to design and implement the mechanisms of mutual-learning process. Consequently, this allows for interrelating the achievements in the fields of science, academic education, and practice.

EFMD is the largest European based international association in the fields of quality assurance and management development with 937 members from academia and business based in 91 countries all over the world. EFMD is recognised globally as an accreditation body certifying quality management education through its accreditation labels for institutions (EQUIS), programmes (EPAS), online courses (EOCCS) corporate learning programmes (CLIP), programmes for developing QA mechanisms (EDAF) and impact assessment (BSIS). EFMD publishes the “Entrepreneur’s Guide to Building a Successful Business” containing advice from hundreds of business owners in 14 countries. EFMD corporate and academic members participate in 7 interest groups on workplace skills and learning, with the results being published frequently and promoted globally. Through its membership, EFMD has access to a large pool of experts on digital sills and entrepreneurship. Many of them are often speakers in the more than 15 annual international conferences that EFMD organizes in EU and all over the world, reaching more than 30.000 academic and non-academic management professionals.


CONFORM (Italy)

CONFORM – Consulenza, Formazione e Management S.c.a.r.l. is based in Avellino, in the Naples region in Italy and was established in 1995. As a managerial training organisation, it has vast experience in creating innovative learning solutions that exploit new digital technologies and can enhance the digital readiness of teaching staff. It has 18 full time staff and collaborates with consultants throughout the country.

CONFORM is registered in the list of film companies of MIBACT – Film Board, for non-cinematographic film and audio-visual production. It has produced short films, video stories and educational films, based on the “Movie Education” methodological model, allowing participants involved in the design phase, screenplay and interpretation of roles, to re-elaborate knowledge acquired in “formal”, “non-formal” and informal” learning.

Among others, main fields of expertise are the development of social and e-learning platforms, to promote 2.0 / 3.0 information, debate, dialogue and interaction with other social media, informal learning with access through credentials to structured multimedia packages developed with visual thinking techniques and the use of 2D/3D animations, interactive business games, video tutorials, etc.

In addition to delivering managerial training, CONFORM also develops learning environments using the Movie Education and Game-Based Learning methodologies. CONFORM continually invests in training for its staff to be able to stay abreast of technological and methodological innovation. CONFORM also develops its own cutting-edge learning materials and environments for people of all ages and from all fields of life.

Since 1995, CONFORM promotes, designs, manages and reports complex projects at national and international level. It has participated in numerous national and international projects implemented under the Erasmus+ Program, the Employment and Equal Community Initiatives, the Italian Ministry of Education, Italian Universities and other. Conform counts over 200 national, European and international partners. CONFORM is partners with PUEB in many Erasmus+ projects for several years (INKAMs, SMILE, Digital Humanist, DaTaGEM) and has started a collaboration with EFMD in the DaTaGEM project which is running until 2021.

Atomscript is the software house founded in 2015 by three people, two of whom were research and teaching staff at Poznan University of Economics. The company specializes in web applications and data management. Our services relate in particular to the following areas:

  • Internal systems to increase productivity and transparency in data management. A step forward in relation to the automated processes.
  • Increase of the information services availability and facilitation of their provision. Opportunity for new, innovative business models.
  • Dedicated tools for business processes. Solutions made to streamline workflows and reduce the number of human errors.
  • Consultancy at every stage of the software development process – from selection of the best technology to the evaluation of existing solutions.

An important pillar of Atomscript activity is the support of Polish universities in the field of collecting, analysing and presenting data.

When it comes to game development, the company’s founders were the core of the team responsible for developing and implementing the gaming platform as part of the Strategic Management Games project – innovative teaching method for business education (2011-1-PL1-LEO05-19884). They designed and developed the architecture of the entire system, as well as the algorithms that are the foundation of the game mechanics. They oversaw the design of graphical user interfaces. They actively supported the development team in terms of software consistency with the functional requirements and game mechanics algorithms.

The company’s staff consists of 7 people who work permanently on the implemented projects in areas of: software development, testing, quality assurance and management.
